Grace Christian School provides focused educational treatments for cognitive systems. Each program is supervised by an instructor who is certified in his particular educational area.
Before a student can be placed in our programs, they are required to go through an evaluation process. This testing enables us to determine which curriculum meets the child's needs. Grace Christian School Individualized Learning Programs provide the techniques for your student to experience success in learning. The following individualized learning programs are offered at GCS:
- NILD (National Institute of Learning Development)
NILD was established in 1982 to assist schools, organizations, and individuals in the development of programs for students with specific learning disabilities. The NILD program at Grace is an individualized educational therapy program designed to stimulate cognitive development through interactive language, strategic thinking, and mediated learning. It is a way to provide quality intervention for students with learning disabilities.
- CEI (Creative Educational Institute)
CEI is Learning solutions that are key to making a difference. CEI takes a Clinical Approach, and is not a tutoring program.
- Self-paced
- Non-competitive
- No homework
- Builds self-concept
- 45-minutes per day
- Five days a week
The key to the system is sensory integration training, which stimulates the individual's strongest sensory areas and links them with the weaker areas. Then through a variety of interesting short tasks, hundreds of correct neurological stimulations occur, causing the weaker sensory mode to become functional and integrated with other sensory modes. The results: for those who have been unable to process information correctly, this addresses the cause of the problem and quickly remediates it. A rapid gain in reading ability occurs with permanent results.
- SOS(Switched-On-Schoolhouse)
Switched-On-Schoolhouse is a powerful educational tool that has been designed to engage students in learning and enhance the educational experience. It combines a traditional approach with multimedia, allowing students to build a solid educational foundation while interacting with the curriculum in a dynamic, hands-on way. It also uses a Christian curriculum that integrates Scripture and a biblical worldview throughout the activities and assignments.
- Schools Attuned
Schools Attuned is a comprehensive professional development and service delivery program that offers educators new methods for recognizing, understanding, and managing students with differences in learning. Schools Attuned gives classroom teachers and other school personnel the knowledge and skills, as well as a system of innovative tools, to meet the diverse needs of all students. When implemented within schools this program enriches the ways in which all children are educated. Schools Attuned is based on over 30 years of work by Dr. Mel Levine, co-chair and founder of All Kinds of Minds and Director for the Center of Development & Learning.
- Search and Teach
Search and Teach is an early intervention program developed to meet the educational needs of young learners before they experience the frustration of learning failure.
- SEARCH is a 20 minute individual test designed to identify 5 and 6-year-olds who are vulnerable to learning difficulty and to provide profiles of individual strengths and weaknesses in the readiness skills necessary for reading success.
- TEACH is a program of 55 learning activities called "tasks", carefully designed to address the needs revealed by SEARCH.
